Keep tight rein of the Jeep with performance-specs PS hoses

Keep your Jeep power steering system in tiptop shape with these heavy-duty Jeep PS Hoses. Designed to provide your Jeep with an all-terrain oil supply, these Jeep PS Hoses are the best in its class in durability and efficiency.

The network of power steering (PS) hoses installed under the Jeep chassis is the vehicle's safeguard against drive train malfunction. As in any parts assembly, the Jeep drive train requires lubrication to make its individual components performing up to specs. Laid out on the underside of the vehicle, the Jeep PS hoses deliver hydraulics fluid from the power steering pump to all the four wheels of the Jeep. With proper lubrication the Jeep drive train remains responsive and the steering wheel keeps a tight rein of the vehicle.

In order that even the hard-to-reach parts of the Jeep power steering system are lubricated, the hydraulics fluids are pumped into the drive train at high boost. The Jeep PS hoses take the pressurized PS fluid right into the steering rack and drive wheels and use it to control the rate of turn of the steering components. Aside from its use in power steering lines, the Jeep PS hoses are likewise used in air, fuel, and lubricating oil applications. Designed to withstand the up to 1,300 psi (8,964kPa) of boost in the hydraulics fluid from the PS pump, the Jeep PS hoses are made of a patented synthetic rubber tube, a resistant fabric cover finish, and are outfitted with standard steel reusable fittings.

The Jeep PS hoses are made up of two types of tubings—a high-pressure hose and a low-pressure hose. Made up of a reinforced synthetic compound, the high-pressure Jeep PS hoses have reinforced double flared compression fittings, while the low-pressure Jeep PS hoses may not use compression fittings due to the lesser amount of pressure that passes through them. The high-pressure PS hoses carry high-pressure oil from the power steering pump to the steering gear and is considered the main supply line of hydraulics fluid. The low-pressure hoses, on the other hand, bring oil from the steering gear back to the pump or its reservoir. To perform these heavy-duty requirements, a high-pressure PS hose must be able to handle fluid at peak temperatures of 150°C and pulse pressures from 0 to 115 bar at 30 to 40 cycles per minute for up to 500,000 cycles. These stringent auto-industry specifications also require that such hoses must remain leak-free following a 20 cycle cold start test run at -40°C.
