Thule Cycle Carriers For Access To The Inaccessible

A bike will take you to places no car could ever get to. A car will take you to places you could never reach by bike in the time available. So for places fairly near to home but so far away from the nearest road that your car couldn’t get there your bike’s the ideal means of transport.

To get to places much further away you’ll need your car. Fair enough but when you get there you find that there are all sorts of places nearby that you’d love to visit but the car can’t get to them up the narrow tracks and they’re too far from the road to walk there. It’d take too long.

So how do you get over the problem? Thule cycle carriers provide the easiest solution. Using one of these cunning devices you can enjoy the best of both worlds. Once the carrier’s attached to your car you can drive to anywhere you want to and take your bike with you.

Just think what that means. No where’s too far away to visit because your car will get you there swiftly and in comfort. Apart that is from any traffic hold ups but we just have to live with those these days and you can still get to places much further away than you could by any other means of door to door travel. Then when you get there all those places where the roads don’t reach are within your reach on your bike, especially if your bike is designed for off road use like a mountain bike. You’ve got it made! Thanks to Thule bike carriers that is.

If you really would like to take more than one bike when you go away that’s no problem either. Thule cycle carriers are actually quite sociable gadgets that come in versions to carry two or more bikes as well as just one.

With your bike on a carrier attached to your car the world is your oyster as they say but here’s more to it than that. However many seats your car had before you decided to take the bikes, it still has the same number. However much room there was in your car for bags and baggage, there’s still just as much. Because the bikes are carried on the outside the interior space is unaffected.

Thule cycle carriers come in two basic types. One type mounts on the back of the car and the other is fitted on the roof.

The roof mounted type fits on to Thule roof bars and carries the bikes upright. Obviously this means the overall height of the car is increased considerably which will be an issue if you want to be able to take the car complete with bikes into places with restricted headroom such as multi-storey car parks. Some low bridges may call for special care too. On the other hand this type doesn’t increase the overall length of the vehicle.

The rear mounted type avoids all the height problems and the job of lifting the bikes up and down from the roof. Obviously if you drive a camper van this will be the only suitable type for you. It does mean that the more bikes you carry the more you increase the length of your vehicle. That may be an issue on ferries and you’ll need to remember it whenever you reverse up to another car or something like a wall.

If you love to get out on your bike and you like to travel to distant places you’ll find that these minor inconveniences can’t detract from the extra pleasure your cycle carrier gives you by enabling you to take your bikes with you on your travels.
